The Importance of Preventative Maintenance for Your Slot Machines

September 3, 2019

When people think about maintenance, they usually think about the repair process after something breaks or malfunctions. But many people don’t realize the importance of preventative maintenance – especially when it comes to your video gaming terminals. So, what is preventative maintenance exactly?

Preventative maintenance is maintenance that is regularly performed on a piece of equipment to lessen the likelihood of the equipment failing or falling into disrepair in the future. Now you might be thinking, “Why should I fix something that’s not broken?” Well, we’ll give you some reasons why.

It Can Avoid Costly Future Repairs

When a VGT breaks, it costs money. It costs both the money to repair the machine as well as the lost revenue from having your VGT out of action. If you’re an Accel location, we will cover all the costs and manpower to fix our machines with our in-house service technicians located throughout the entire state. And while we ensure that problems are solved as soon as possible, there will inevitably be at least a small delay between when a machine breaks or malfunctions and when we can fix it. Preventative maintenance helps us minimize those kinds of delays.

You Can Prepare Better

If a machine suddenly breaks or malfunctions, a technician will need parts and tools in order to fix it. But those tools or parts may not be available immediately. It may require ordering or traveling to get them, which adds to the delay we mentioned above. With preventative maintenance, a technician can bring all the parts he needs to anticipate any possible problems your VGT may be experiencing. It’s easier to solve a problem you anticipate than one that surprises you.

Discover Problems Before They Become Problems

The biggest advantage of preventative maintenance is to identify problems before they become problems. The Effects of Video Gaming in IllinoisThis is probably the number one reason behind most preventative maintenance programs. The more work a machine has done on it, the more likely it is that the service tech will be able to discover an issue before it causes a real problem to the machines.  If there is a serious problem to the machines, they will have to be taken off the floor and will stop earning your business money – which none of us want!

Here at Accel Entertainment, we offer preventative maintenance for our VGTs to all our Accel locations. We have in-house technicians located throughout the entire state working 24/7 to not only address immediate problems when they arise, but to also visit locations and look at machines to ensure everything is running smoothly.
