Four Ways to Get to Know Your Video Gaming Players Better

March 1, 2021

One way to ensure that customers will keep coming back to play at your licensed Pennsylvania gaming establishment is by getting to know more about them. There may be multiple licensed gaming locations in your neighborhood, but these players always seem to keep coming back to YOUR location. Why is that? What exactly do these players enjoy? Do they feel that there is anything that can be improved?

By spending time getting to know your players, you may find suggestions on what to change about your gaming area, refreshments or service. But there’s also another effect: by asking your players their opinion, they will feel heard and appreciated. In fact, a recent survey found that 68% of customers said they would stop frequenting a business if they didn’t feel appreciated. Here are a few ways to get to know your players better.

Use Social Media

Social media has its pros and cons for business owners, but one big “pro” is that it makes it easy to speak directly to your customers. You can use Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to reach out to your players.

Each social platform has different ways to achieve this effectively. Think about the best way to use each platform to reach as many players as possible. On Twitter, you can pose a question then create a poll, on Facebook you can write a text post asking for feedback on the post, and on Instagram you can post a photo and ask for direct messages or comments on the post.

Use a Survey

You can accomplish this by chatting with them before or after they play and get a feel for their preferences. If you’ve already started collecting email addresses from your customers, you can easily send an email and include a survey, or send them a simple, free option through Survey Monkey. You can also survey your customers with a good old-fashioned paper survey. We recommend waiting to do so after they are finished gaming, so you don’t bother them while they’re playing on a machine.

Some good survey questions to include:

  • What kind of music do they like?
  • What kind of refreshments (soft drinks, donuts, popcorn) do they enjoy?
  • Whether they prefer to be left alone or checked on by a server?

Read Reviews

Read the reviews that your customers leave on Yelp, Google and Facebook. Although individual reviews may not reflect how your business operates day in and day out, common themes or trends among reviews are something you should keep in mind. Make it a point to read your reviews at least once a month and look for suggestions and feedback that could help improve your players’ experiences.

By getting to know your customers better and learning about their likes and dislikes, you can create an ideal playing experience. All it takes is some time and a listening ear!
